Good evening,

I have always been a conventional postwar kind of guy, but I recently purchased a TMCC set to try something new.  It came with the CAB-1, the Command Base, and a Powermaster.  I don't have any TMCC engines, but I plan to purchase a few in the future.  So here are my newbie questions:

1.  Can a TMCC system control accessories (such as an 022 switch or a 397 Coal Loader?) How is that done?

2.  Is it possible to convert a postwar loco (such as a 2383) to TMCC? If so, where can I get conversion kits or spare parts?

3.  When I switch my Command Base to "Conventional", what can it do that my postwar ZW can't?  What can it do better?

4.  I have an MTH engine with Proto 2.  I wouldn't suppose that would work with TMCC.  Does it?

Thank you and happy belated Thanksgiving,

Alan

There's an item called a switch controller I believe

3.  When I switch my Command Base to "Conventional", what can it do that my postwar ZW can't?  What can it do better? you have a better control of the speed

The Command base is not needed for conventional operation of trains and does not have a switch on it.

The PM-1 has the CMD/CONV and PROG/RUN switches.  You get 32 speed steps with the red dial. It takes a brief learning period to get used to the knob's travel not having a beginning or an end - like newer car radio volume & tuning knobs.

Here are the basic operating instructions/features:
