Having just read that thread, I thought it might be useful to post this. About a year ago, we had a discussion here, and I contacted two mfgs regarding what I remembered about their warranty. In the old days, it was printed on the batteries, that "if they ever leaked and damaged an item, the company would repair/replace' said item. I wondered if that still applied, since I sent off a few toys & flashlights when I had my son and the items were usually replaced or a check was sent back. Below are two replies from the battery companies I contacted.

I must not have written to Duracell since I saw no reply. I try to stick w/ Everready due to the letter below. Greg

Everready reply:

Thank you for contacting Energizer and for your inquiry. We would be happy to assist you.

As per the terms of our guarantee: "We will repair or replace, at our option, any device damaged by Energizer batteries, if the device and batteries are sent to us. This guarantee void if batteries charged by user or device."

Under the terms of our guarantee, please send the cells and the device to our Ohio office for evaluation. If Energizer elects to repair your device, your original device will be returned to you. If Energizer elects to replace or reimburse you for the original device, the original device will not be returned to you and it will be disposed of immediately.

We can send you a pre-paid return label along with a letter of instruction on how to return your batteries and device. You should receive it in 7-10 business days. If you have any questions you may call our toll free number at 1-800-383-7323 and speak with one of our Customer Service Representatives. You may refer your claim by referencing the case number that will come with your letter.

I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,

Thank you for contacting Rayovac. Yes! It was about 15 years ago that
the batteries, especially our rechargeable alkaline series, came with
out battery guarantee printed on them. While Eveready/Energizer may
have, we certainly did.
