HI, Is there a way to convert Lionel Fastrack Remote Switches to operate in a wireless manner. That is, replace the wired switch box approach with a wireless remote.

Yes. Look on the Electric Railroad website. They make a circuit board that installs inside the switch.
I've installed a few of these, very easy and you get functionality identical to the command switch. If you already have the remote switches, it's the way to go, cheaper than selling them and replacing them with command models.
Do note that they are ONLY compatible with a specific electronics board, the TRC3 board, check before ordering.

If you are running the Legacy or TMCC system you can also go with the Lionel SC-2 Switch controller. I use these on my layout controlling switches which are numbered one thru twenty eight. Some of these are doubled as in crossovers. Each SC-2 will control six individual switches.

HI RAY, Does the SC-2 work with pre-Legacy/TMCC remote (pre-wired lever controls) or do you need the newer remote/TMCC switches. Thank you, Clarke
You use the SC-2 if you have the remote switches.
For the TMCC command switches, you don't need an SC-2, the switch is native command capable.
If you have remote switches, another possibility is the ERR Switch Commander, it converts a remote switch into a TMCC command switch. The board installs inside the switch, and the provided pushbutton and light are mounted to make it into a fully capable TMCC command switch.

CLARKESR My layout uses all 1950s era remote switches by AC Gilbert. As John stated above if you have remote switches that are lever controlled you can use the SC-2. The switches are wired to the SC-2 similar to the way the levers are wired but the SC-2 can be mounted most anywhere on the layout out of sight. I have added a link for the wiring by Ed Golden.

RAY, Thank you for the update. Now I understand that they are compatible, but must be hard wired to the SC-2. I will keep this setup under consideration since it is better than using the levers from a central location. However, I would really like to not have to hard wire to the switches. That is, control them in a completely wireless manner from a remote. Regards, Clarke
