I have a small problem with an RMT BEEP.  Having only four wheels, and one having a traction tire, the unit has problems on our club layout that has one of the outer rails dedicated to signaling, there is only one wheel that actually pickups from the outside rail.

What I'd like to do is find someone that has BEEP parts around that has a set of wheels without the traction tires and swap those in place of the set with the traction tire.  Taking the traction tire off really doesn't solve the problem, then the unit teeters on the other wheels as the groove for the single traction tire throws things off.

I'm making the assumption that since both sets of wheels are powered, that the wheel sets will be the same except for the traction tire, having never had one of these apart to that degree.  If that's wrong, I'd love to hear about it, then I'll have to consider plan-B.

E-mail me: I have a couple of BEEP chassis that no longer run and I'm pretty sure its just the boards - the motors are almost certainly good.  I'll check to make sure each has at least one wheel set with no traction tires and drop them in a box and UPS them to you to cannibalize.

Another option, though, would be to just run two Beeps with a tether between them, which might work as well (i.e., it would double the contact patches on that one powered outer rail, and would not require any work on your part!

Lee.  Sounds great, I'll drop you a line.

As for running two of them, I only have the one.  In addition, it has TMCC installed, so it would not be a "work-free" solution.   Since I don't intend this to pull more than one or two cars, I figure I can dispense with the traction tire and solve the issue.  I did this kind of mod with my Wienermobile, I pulled the wheel and replaced it with a non-traction tire wheel, problem solved.  I might have tried that, but I don't have any BEEP wheels to work with.  I figure replacing the whole wheel axle would probably be easier in any case.

Lee, got the chassis and ripped some wheels out, they fit like a glove!   Moving them was a trivial exercise, looks like all of the running gear is the same for both models of these.

I can't thank you enough for your generousity, can't wait to take this the the club layout and see it make it over some of the switches.

Thanks again, and if I can ever return the favor, just ask.
