Often times I feel drawn to support train related causes, like the Pennsylvania Railroad Museum, the B&O Museum, the T1 Trust, Mr. Muffin' current ongoing Choo Choo Cafe Kickstarter, and frankly I consider my TCA membership along these lines as well. I like to support things that provide some train related presence, be it historical preservation or toy train related, in this present day world. What other causes do you guys think are worthwhile?

Though I imagine you are asking what other train-related causes are worthwhile, I must say (not to be argumentative, at all,) that the portion of my income that would be set aside each year for "causes" would include "Operation Smile" or "Make a Wish," not trains, at all.

Every Year the NJ HiRailers sell a calendar of pics of our layout and give the proceeds to one of Franks causes - The Make a Wish Foundation
I also love any kind of train related cause but my most important cause is St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. I love little children and absolutely hate to see them suffer.
I have been thinking of offering to build a layout in the local old people's home.

Of course a lot of us model railroaders, like everyone, have non train related causes, but I really like this kind of idea of model railroaders giving to worthy causes like you mentioned, especially considering how much we spend on our trians! That's a nice gesture. I will need to look out for the next calendar Ben!
