I have a lot of 031 RealTrax turns. Is using these spaced by straights able to run like 054? For instance, 031 turn - a 5.5inch or 10 inch straight - 031 turn... looking to avoid spending on 054 turns.
Layout is on floor and out for a few months around Christmas. I picked up a MTH steamer and matching cars 2 years ago. While these run 031, 054 would be more ideal.

This can probably be done though you may run into the need to cut sections. However, it will still run only O31 equipment. Might look a little odd.

If you place straight sections between every curve section, watch the loco as it runs. It will flop around like a fish on the dock.
This is something that folks come up with from time to time, but it does not work.

IMO trains look terrible when a curve is interrupted by multiple straight sections.
