I received e-mail telling me set and extra car I ordered would arrive in container on Feb 7th, so I sent my credit card info.  Since then, I've heard nothing.  Anyone else expecting something from the 2nd run heard anything different?  Seems like they had/have 5 extra sets in both 2-rail & 3-rail, so filling orders should not be a problem.

Yeah, you don't get much on the form of over communication from Scott Mann and company.

I don't understand this post, Matt.  Scott has consistently been one of this forum's best communicators regarding his products and any issues associated with them.  Heck, Atlas doesn't even respond for weeks regarding the F-7 issues, and when it appears to do so, it is through surrogates while many order cancellations are taking place.

So a container arrives in CA, how much time does it take to clear customs and get delivered to Scott?  How much time does it take for a small staff to break down the container and verify its contents?  How much time does it take to sort the items; aggregate specific orders; package individual orders; and get them out the door; and, finally, delivered to the customers?

I have no answers for those questions; but, with a small staff I can imagine it takes more than a few days.

I get it--folks want their stuff fast.  Just be realistic with your expectations.

Yeah, and you send money to 3rd Rail, do you get a confirmation? Do you get that personal email saying things are on their way? No and it's not really necessary although a payment recieved confirmation would be nice. Scott is the best communicator of all the manufactures and that's why I buy from him first. I have email conversations with Scott and Shani fairly often and I give them kudos. Every email get answered and they go above and beyond to make sure I'm happy, they just don't always tell me about it and I don't care that much. I have bought a ton of trains and Scotts has been by far the best to buy products from. They are great at keeping us, the customer, informed but they don't tell us more than is necessary.

Youll get a UPS shipping notification when they start splitting up the shipment. Then about a week or so later your item will hit the UPS facility and your order will be trackable.

Me thinks that was called sarcasm.  It does get a bit old the 100th time that arrival equals arrival to me.  That goes for all manufacturers not just Sunset.

I read a post from Scott on the forum that extra sets were available. Bought the 8 car set and all the extra cars on Saturday and paid immediately with PayPal. Got an email on Monday from UPS with tracking info stating that estimated delivery is Wednesday 2/22/17. Signature required. Not bad. Not bad at all. Thank you Scott.

Mark

Yes, your UPS tracking email may say the estimated delivery of 2/22 however my experience says it will be about a week or so before it leaves their facility for the UPS truck. They print off the labels for orders then process all the orders then ship them. Just is how they do it, not a big deal tho since weve been waiting for them for like a year and a half. Still you wont get better communication about projects and orders than you get from Scott and Company

This will be my first completed order with Scott (have three total at the moment) and I too received the tracking notification from UPS yesterday with a 2/22 delivery date.  Based upon the comments above I just checked the status via the UPS App on my phone and the two boxes are listed as "In Transit" and a rescheduled delivery date of 2/21!

I wouldn't say they are on their way, but I got the same email. They'll leave California in the next week or so.

I do not understand your negativity? They are on the way, in Transit. Mine will be here Monday.

In Matt's defense I really don't think he's being negative.  There have been prior threads I have read where 3rdRail/GGD printed the shipping labels in advance, triggering notices to everyone, but wasn't actually shipping (it was either the F7 or first El Cap run).  So his experience and statement is correct, although it appears in this case 3rdRail/GGD is actually shipping.

I wasn't being negative. I've ordered a bunch of stuff from Scott and it's always been the same. I get the notice that says the label was printed and then about a week or so later my box leaves San Ramon for my house. Maybe I have to wait longer because my name falls in the M's and people in the Z's have to wait even longer. Interesting how me explaining my actual experiences have been interpreted as being negative

As of this morning, my one-car shipment (the streamlined RPO) is still in label printed, but not yet delivered to UPS, status.  Also noted is that the car will require a signature upon delivery to my home.  And they previously sent an email advising that the two heavyweight Pullmans will ship in March.  They charged my card for $600, which would cover all three cars, fine with me.

Our middle son will undergo brain surgery next week, and we'll be in Denver for a few days to support him and his family.  If the RPO hasn't been delivered by then, I'll divert it to be picked up at the local UPS Store when we return.

Welcome to life on the forum, Matt.    Same can be said for all my pricing "observations" whenever new products are announced, and I often illustrate where folks are getting the best bang for their dollar (and where they're not).   People (i.e., brand loyalists) often call those posts "negative".  That's their problem -- not mine.  We can never control how other people interpret our posts -- only how we respond.

P.S.  FYI... I received my email shipping notice on 2/15 for the extra Lounge Car I ordered from this 2nd production run.  Latest UPS tracking status still shows label created, "Ready for UPS".  Until the status changes to "shipped", or better yet "In Transit", any ETA dates are based on the package actually shipping the same day the shipping label was created -- which clearly isn't the case here, given what I'm guessing are probably a few hundred orders to process/ship.
