I drew this plan up on railmodeller earlier today. I am limited to 5x8 so this is the best I can come up with. Any input will be appreciated.

Are you going to run conventionally or command or DCS?
Any chance you can find another foot? 5 x 9 opens the door to so many track plans.
There is a track plan similar to the one that you posted on p.33 of the 1954 Operating manual. It is also a helpful reference for wiring by substituting the 1 3/8" FasTrack with a wire as a block control.
Also, running two trains simultaneously in conventional mode requires proper wiring.
Peruse through it, you'll find it helpful.
You'll also find the note on p.33 for turning siding D into a reversing loop. That way you can change the direction of travel for the trains.
The link for the track deal is not working. Are you talking about the double crossing? If you put together the parts list, CharlesRo my be cheapest place to buy the track that you need.

Dale H has posted many control wiring systems for conventional. Here is one from another board that he posts on. Running multiple trains at once
Thanks Moonman this will be very helpful... I added the 2ft extension a few minutes ago and now the next step is to finalize a track plan...

This is the layout I am thinking of starting with... I would like to have the double loop part elevated and on the level section have switches to the inside loop... I will draw up some ideas later this evening on railmodeller
That's a fair price-CharlesRo would be 201.25+9.00 shipping=210.95 vs. 223.74
I went to his website and I was not able to find it. I will have to give him a call when I have the extra money. I have a bunch of my Atlas track & Switches along with 3 trains on ebay hopefully I can make some money that way.
It's a price list in .pdf. price guide for 2013 catalogs on front page, middle left or click the link.
Looks like it will be fun. I was just looking for a way to get a reversing loop in there to be able to change directions. Hmmn?
It's yours. You have fun.
I liked how you attacked the paint job. You'll get what you like on this too!
Here is a track plan you may be interested in. It was created by Kent Johnson. It's called A small, simple, and amazingly sensible 5x9 plan*. This uses Lionel tubular track. I tried to recreate this layout with Lionel FT using O-36 curves (the smallest curved turnouts available in FT), but it would become too large to fit.
