Well I have about 75 percent finished this remodel of the 5x8 layout that I have had in my garage for the last 4 years.  I finally got  the small bed room of our home as my train room..YEAH!!   So decided to build a multi level winter layout.  I took pictures as I have done this so to maybe help anyone else in the hobby.  I am by no means a "Trainworks" guy.       The board in 8 x 5.5 in width.  I cut the height down from 43 inches to 32.  It still has the rollers in it so I can move it about as needed.  I have tryed to up load as many of the pictures as I can.  The top track is 031 turns Lionel Fastrack. With Super streets around the town.   The lower, which I will now start the build on it is 036 turns except where you see the transformers.  That is two 072 turns, and that I did so to make room for the power units.   MTH powers the lower and a 80watt Lionel for the top.  All track is hard wired together to I never have to go fishing for a bad connection.   The top level is on my old 4x4 Christmas boards and it is half inch plywood with the same foam board glued to it.     The lower is green carpet I got from Lowes that is stapled to it.   The top mountain is just setting on the bottom piece so I could remove it with out tearing it all apart and the lower mountain is also just sitting there.  Well  if any have a question ask away......train layout summer 2018 005Train layout remodel for inside 002 [2)DSCF6645DSCF6647DSCF6651DSCF6659DSCF6665DSCF6667DSCF6670DSCF6680DSCF6676Train layout remodel for inside 007Train layout remodel for inside 001Train layout remodel for inside 006Train layout remodel for inside 007Train layout remodel for inside 008Train layout remodel for inside 005Train layout remodel for inside 010Train layout remodel for inside 012Train layout remodel for inside 009

  • DSCF6659: I have hords of this foam from years past, so I just starting gluing it together and using my my Hot Wire to re carve it all to work.

  • DSCF6667: So I tryed to just put that thin screen wire on it and shape it. NO way did that work. So I just got into my foam pile and cut up pieces to the shpe I wanted. I use roofing nails to hold the wire to the foam and the foam I just hot gluded to the wood. f
  • DSCF6670: I used the plaster rolls to cover this..IF you do this. cut them in 6 inch strips, dip them in a pan of water and start from the top and go down, over laying as you go. IF you get the strips longer than 6 inches they can be a pain to work with.
  • DSCF6680: It took 30 mintutes to do the plaste sheets. I let dry over night and then go a small tub a sheet rock mud and thinly covered the whole mountain. next day I painted it with semi gloss white paint and while wet I shook "Flocking" on it for that real sno
