Is there a way to down load the programming for a Lionel steam engine to a writable module from Lionel Utility System.

If it’s already in your base you can make a module from that. If not you can enter all the information manually and then make a module from it. Or ask someone that has the same engine to create it from their database.
As far as I know Lionel doesn’t have downloadable module files.
Like Marty says, it's easy to just enter the data on the CAB2. Better yet, sit down with the LCS (Legacy System Utility) and use a full keyboard to type the stuff in. It's a lot easier and quicker to enter engine data that way, and you'll be using the LCS anyway to write the module. You can yourself an orange engine module from those useless white modules you have that came with the Legacy #990.
