I just finished rebuilding an old 736 postwar I picked up at an local auction. It had a broken drive axle, a unwired E unit and no smoke unit. These old engines are so well designed and built I felt obligated to repair it. I guess its all about respecting the quality of another generation. Its certainly quite a job replacing all the axle bushings, line reaming for fit and centering the worm gear and smoke cam. I spent most of the day Sunday doing the work and the last two evenings breaking in the rebuilt engine. I never thought I'd be breaking in a 1953 Lionel train engine. Also, I'd like to thank everyone who has recommended Jeff the owner of the Train Tender. He is terrific to deal with. Enjoy the pictures.
