recently attempting to update my legacy base from version 1.52 to 1.60, I’ve discovered that the hardware is beginning to fail. It won’t accept the software update, failing with the 6 flashes after attempting to update. I contacted Lionel support and they are not longer repairing these, as expected. Is there anyone out there that can perform a repair?

How would anyone but Lionel perform a repair on a proprietary microprocessor based system- that is failing an update- when Lionel would never release that source code and firmware on the chips a person would have to replace?
This is the same reason we cannot flash sound cards or change the programming on a RCMC.
There is no repair- only replace.
The rare exception is maybe something agnostic in the power supply section or a more mechanical failure like broken solder joint or a physical connector.

Luckily the first batch of Base 3's are due by end of July! So, you can get one of those to replace your 990 base.
I believe we will see a number of 990 Legacy bases for sale after the Base 3 ships. Not the Cab2 remotes, but the 990 base.

Not mine !!! Will save it for a BASE3 “BACKUP” !! You never know !!LOL
