I am looking to purchase in bulk those round plugs that you find at the accessory end of s 4.5 volt wallwart. What I am trying to do is use a buck converter at one end with power from the transformer and to plug into those lemax battery boxes. I am sorry that I am "stuck in stupid" as I don't remember what the name is for those round connectors. Your assistance is much appreciated.

Search ebay for 'barrel jack adapter'. There are tons of them there. Amazon also has them. I think 2.1mm x 5.5 mm is a pretty common size if you need to know that. There is also a 2.5x5.5mm size. The 2.1x5.5mm are all I have ever needed so far.
Just find one of the many very cheap 5VDC wall warts and stick a series diode in the lead, instant 4.5V adapter. The 2.1x5.5mm plug is correct for the Lemax and Menards buildings. Note that if you happen to need something compatible with Lionel command bases, it's the 2.5x5.5mm plug, that bit me doing the TMCC Buffer, I wanted to tap off earth ground from the power. So, I have a bag of 50 2.1x5.5mm plugs and matching female ends that are "surplus". 
That's good to know, I have never fiddled with that one. Wonder if it's because it's A/C (at least I'm thinking it's A/C and an odd voltage to boot)??
