Well, I haven't heard about this change before, but I am certainly no expert.  In the first video Alex shows which outputs relate to what features, but it struck me that this arrangement is hardly very user-serviceable, and unless I miss my guess, it means that a whole board might need to be replaced if one component on it fails. Maybe that's really the position at present but I found the separate/modular components easier to understand.

Also sounds like there will be an LCP3 board for steamers, but that it hasn't made it's way into anything issued to date. Is that right?

It all seems to put a premium on programming these things correctly at the manufacturing stage, which does not exactly fill me with confidence as sound/control errors have surfaced all too often.

I was always surprised on how big the whole Legacy board set was. I thought it would be smaller. It seemed (to me) like it hadn't changed much since TMCC.

So this makes sense, if not for the several years later.

I imagine there will be the usual fear of something new. I hope it works as designed without too much teething. Always seems like buyers don't accept any slip ups or failures.

Thanks for sharing again!

Lionel 4-12-2 #2231290 Repair

I had this engine for a little over a week and was going to post a YouTube video on it when it shifted in reverse suddenly then stopped dead. I got an RA # and shipped it back to Lionel. A week later I got an email describing the problem. I thought I’d post it here because it has the new LCP3-B board.

Lionel’s Response:

“replace LCP3-B board it was bad put on test track reprogram to 14 everything ran and worked as should cant find anything that stands out as to why the board went out , will check the old board out later but just want to thank you for buying lionel and if you want check us out on facebook, youtube or our podcast“
