I recently picked up a used MTH GP7 with PS 2.0 (3-volt). The MTH product number is 30-2722-1. Everything works great except for the fact that there is no SoftKey to turn off the interior cab lights. This SoftKey is usually labeled as “LIN” in the remote. I also added this engine to the MTH DCS App and there is no way to cycle the lights within the app either.

I removed the shell to look at the wiring and found that the interior cab lights are indeed on their own unique harness back to the board. They are not connected to the headlight circuit.

Am I missing something here? All of my other DCS engines with cab lights have that SoftKey titled “LIN”.

Could I use the ADPCM program to edit the list of SoftKeys for this engine’s soundfile? Is it possible to toggle on and off Softkeys with that program? Would that give me the ability to turn the interior cab lights on and off?

Any insight or advice is appreciated, thanks.

Step1 using the product code and google 30-2722-1 which takes you to the product page at https://www.mthtrains.com/products/30-2722-1

Step2 go to the support tab and download the sound file locally to your computer (sound file is in .mth format)

Step3 Open that sound file inside the ADPCM program

Step4 click Analyze

Step5 click Edit Softkey

Step6- review active softkeys noting that interior light is not currently enabled. Click the correct one based on what actual output pin the lights are wired to.

Step7 hit "Do it" to save any changes to the sound file. (Note, it edits the exact named sound file and you can validate this by noting the date info on that file changes to the date and edit time you hit "do it").

Step8- use the MTH consumer loader program to flash the now edited sound file to the engine.
