during the day, Mike & I sometimes get a chance to talk during breaks, on the lunch hour, or whenever,…….we’re always showing off each other’s daily efforts, ….Mike with his layout skills, and I with the cars, ….He’s currently working on a mammoth of a layout, and it’s really cool to get a front row seat on how he builds these masterpieces,…..so on one of our usual exchanges of who’s up to what, Mike sends me pictures of some of the MTH Railking buildings he had weathered up for this upcoming layout build, ….I was really blown away with the detail, and how Mike turned a toy into a fine model,….specifically, he was working on some MTH Railking switch towers,….it had just so happened I had recently picked up one of the NYC MTH switch towers for my layout, and when Mike had shown me what he had done, I sent him a pic of the one I had just gotten in, ….in typical Mike fashion ( y’all who know Mike know his attention to detail ) Mike says “ that’s nice, but it’s still just a toy” ….after wards, Mike says to pack it up, send to him, and he’ll weather it,…we agreed on a price, and off it went….what came back was completely different from the toy-like building I had sent off,…..Mike sent me the blow-by -blow pics from his shops as he took my switch tower apart to weather it stem to stern……just what the doctor ordered for this stretch of the layout, ….Mike is now offering this service to a broader audience!…So if weathering ain’t your thing, look up Mike via his profile Mikado on the forum, …..hopefully I get these pics in order….but if not, y’all get the idea!…

Pat the switch tower looks great on the layout.  Mike did an excellent job of weathering, used but not forlorn.  I envy those with fabulous weathering talents like Mike, SIRT, Erik, Johan and others.  Like you if I had tried to weather the tower it would probably look as if it was waiting for demolition after having been abandoned for some years.
