Searched OGR for RR Track to see if any advantage to or gaining anything new bells and whistles changing from V4 to V5.  Read it seems to crash more and sometimes doesn't save everything, but these may be referring to earlier version of V5x whose bugs have been fixed with latest version.

RRtrack website says it no longer supports v4.x, so want to get $55 to upgrade for what advantages??

I switched to the new version only because I had a computer crash and had to get a new computer.  One of the new "bells and whistles" is you are supposed to be able to assemble a train on the drawing's track and assimilate operation to see how your layout performs.  It works up to a point but the trains stop in places.  It has been a while since I tried to use it, but I think it stops on track you designed your self to fit a space that a standard track wouldn't fit.

My drawings are complete so I haven't used my RR Track for a while so can't remember other advantages.  Maybe others will chime in.

I agree with Dennis, this is a great function.  Since I'm designing an "operating" layout, with functional engine and freight yards and several industries out on the mainline, I find the simulation function very useful to make sure my ideas actually work.  The train will stop when it comes to the end of a track, which also includes track pieces that are not joined together (no circle where you are trying to connect track).  All track has to be joined for the simulation to work.
