On the old layout, as another forum member suggested, I put a test track at the front of the bench work backed with scenic express stone walls. It really looked good. I am thinking on this new layout I will add a couple of long straight sections of track at the front edge of the layout running to tunnel portals on each end with hidden return loops. I was thinking I would accomplish this with an O72 or O54 turnout and then install curves to loop the track back.
Anyone do something similar? Suggestions?
I have also thought about doing it as a double track with a hidden loop back on each end. Wouldn't take much more space and avoid a turnout to deal with.
