Hey guys does anyone know how to take off the boiler on a 3rd rail late big boy?? I took a few screws off and got the driver frame and wheels loose but the inside of the boiler does not come apart I checked for additional screws but was unable to find anything to get inside the boiler. I need to access the smoke unit as it is not working I bought this second hand no box or manual thanks.

Well, most 3rd Rail brass locomotives have two screws at the rear and one under the front pilot to remove the boiler. Sometimes you have to take the front pilot wheels off to access the front screw. I have never taken that particular one apart, so I don't know if it follows the pattern.
GRJ it does not appear that the boiler is in two pieces though it has to be gonna have to look into this further

The boiler shell isn't in two pieces, but there is a frame under the boiler.
Perhaps you should post some pictures.
OK i will take some tomorrow and post if boiler is not in two pieces I have no clue how to get to the smoke unit though.
