We sign the lease tomorrow. As soon as the insurance kicks in, after York, we will move everything over there.

We are thinking we would use the fifty foot wall as the vertical in a letter "E" and then add three peninsulas. Each peninsula at least eight feet wide with the vertical piece up against the wall four feet, or less.

Double or triple track mainline around the outside edge of the "E" for the first level. I expect they will need to move in from the edge to make the inside curves in the "E" elbows.

Then we plan the second level, double mainline, with all of the bridges. Make sense?

Still doing open grid bench work but this time put the first level of track on cut plywood and risers so we can be more creative with the scenery.

Normally, I would just build the bench work, sheet it and move the track around until I found something that worked. This time - maybe I need to try the software.

What do you think?

Opposite wall will be all display shelves. We are thinking.

We are building in a little kitchen in the end in case Vinnie calls and wants to cook.

Atlas O - because we already have tons of it....

We were there today and signed the lease and took pictures of the empty space.... they're going to repaint the floor and repair some drywall and then we get the keys....

After visiting today we think we are going to use both the long sides and the back and then put one big peninsula down the middle..... like a large letter "M" vs the "E" I described before...... we measured the space we can dedicate to the layout and it will be 26 feet across and then 38 feet deep..... we have an office, lobby and bathroom in the front then a stairway on the right up to a loft for storage and a galley kitchen on the left..... then we have a space that's 26 by 6 in the back for a workshop and shelve storage....

It will be 2.4 times bigger than the layout we had in the house.....

I got the Atlas O library.

This is admittedly symmetrical but it was an easy way to start out and get an idea about your space.  This is 38x26 with radius labels on the curves.  Let me know if this is the basic shape you had in mind.  I'll be glad to make curves bigger or smaller and start breaking up the symmetry based on your feedback. Also, what is your minimum radius?

The grid is 12"squares.  Let me know if you want the bench work/aisles wider or narrower.  It would be good to have some guidance about your minimum aisle width.  And your maximum depth along the walls.

Thanks George,

I haven't heard back from Steve so I don't know if this fits his vision or if he's going in a different direction.

I did play around with it a little more exploring some possibilities such as a yard where consists could be easily stored.  And I added in crossovers and a reverse loop etc just to see what it might look like.  Minimum radius is O72.
