my first time using the rr-track software - believe me when i say - "early learning stage"

disclaimer - - i know track is larger than table - entire table is 5.5 wide

intent - run one train on outside loop while running two trains on inside loop

please - if you have a moment - make suggestions and be critical - i am new to this

thanks rdeal

Looks good. You'll need some relays and a little insulated rail work for train detection and collision avoidance for the crossovers.

I'll try and find a recent thread on the topic for your reference.

It's simple to resize your benchwork in the terrain tab. If you want that size table, then you have some track work to do.

With a passing siding at top of outside loop, you could easily have two trains running on that loop unless you just want to sit back and watch three trains chase their tales.

Hint: Consider the potential boredom factor when designing a plan.  Right now, your outside loop can only handle one train and your inside loop can handle two trains, but only running in the same direction.  You don't even have enough room to take one of the inside trains to the outside loop to change directions unless your inside loop can temporarily manage all three trains running in the same direction.

Your plan leaves no space for operating accessories, for excess train storage, or for any operations (e.g. switching cars for industries, refueling, passenger stops, etc.).  In the planning stage, consider what you need to be happy and then be sure to incorporate those needs in your plan.

Chuck & Greg thank you so much for you criticism, your suggestions and hints. I do need help like this. Maybe before we get to far down the line and the station – maybe I should tell you more about the purpose and goals of the layout, “Christmas as Enon” - - I am going to build a permanent holiday layout - - trying to incorporate things from my childhood – two examples – 1) using a monopoly board on the layout, idea from scott.smith & 2) creating a pseudo turntable using some avon trains given to me by my mom many years ago – through the years of Christmas giving my grand kids loved to give me “snow village” – I have a boxcar load stored in the basement – it will be all fantasy – all fastrack on green carpet – no ballast – no making it look real - - I have three Christmas tinplate trains –

My original thinking was – run one train loop to loop and run two train with interaction in the inside loop

I do have some lionel accessories and working cars from the ’50 – use them? probably not – maybe the signals only

Thanks - rdeal

I would raise the inner cross loop up over the two entering tracks, that eliminates 2 Crossovers and lets you run with less restrictions.

A few sidings for those accessories will make it more fun as well.

I would also cut a custom length piece of track to replace all those fitter pieces in the lower right.
