I have a 10x10 layout with lionel super O track. I am getting ready to expand. I am thinking about using Atlas track. It looks like it may be easier to layout. I don't like the look of lionel fastrak. The Atlas track looks similar to super O. I am sure I can adapt it to connect to super O. Anyone have any experience doing this? Any input would be appreciated.

I made the switch to Atlas O and don't regret it. IMHO Atlas O is the closest thing to Super O. I wish Lionel would have brought Super O back with wider radius curves and switches. If they ever did I would buy it. I never had a problem with Super O cutting my rollers. Maybe it is because I came of age with Super O. I got my first Lionel in 1958 at the age of 7. I had received a Marx set two years earlier. I started buying Super O in 1966 and did not have enough to build the lay out I wanted until 1974. I finished high school and college while doing this time. I miss those days. Trains were cheap until about 1972. The dollar was worth a lot more. While I would rate Super O better. Atlas O is the next best thing unless you can build your own Super O curve and switches like Super O Bob. Check out his layout
SP where his Super O's Bob Layout I have not seen it recently.
From the Atlas website. Here's how to connect Super "O" track to Atlas O track:
1. Cut back one metal tie on the Super O track.
2. Trim back the plastic web under the Super O rail.
3. Slide the Atlas O standard rail joiners on the two outer
rails. Keep the center joiner on the Atlas O track.
4. Cut off the plastic snap-lock on the Atlas O track.
5. Push the track sections together. Crimp the center rail
joiner around the Super O center blade rail.

Super O has plastic ties.. Wonder if that should be "remove the metal pin from the
rail"?
