Attached are pics of my 616 ATSF Switcher motor frame.

It was running poorly so I started to rebuild it. I discovered that the amrature was popping up & down 2~3 mil when reversing. After dismantling the truck I found that the drive gear (600-111) had an egg-shaped bearing surface in the aluminum motor truck frame. The entire unit was still packed with greasy/oily schmutz that was not all caked/dried and was still reducing friction. I also quickly noted the ball-bearing (600-110) and thrust washer (600-129) were AWOL. I think the missing items are probably the biggest contributory factor for this worn out power truck. Those tiny little items always seem to fly out when servicing motor and if you didn't think they were important, well...

As long as you have it broken down this far ...

I can't seem to find the 600-119G - but...

the thing that maybe I didn't make clear is that this gear moves up & down, out of position, when reversing direction. eg: the top pic is 'forward' (correct position) and the bottom pic is 'reverse' (gear in the wrong position) and is beginning to wear out the gear teeth. the gear pin/axle bearing surface is worn out to a larger egg-shaped hole, this hole is hiding behind the gear on the motor truck face. the bearing surface/hole is enlarged and not repairable.

primarily I posted this to help warn folks to keep careful track of their bearings and washers when rebuilding or replacing brushes in their motors

the truck is kaput, but if anyone has a replacement - holler at me i might use the remaining parts of this unit to fix up some others
