I finally got around to building a portable layout, just a sheet of plywood on wood frame. I've got O27 profile track screwed down intermittently. The intent is to have a flat layout that can be propped up against the wall when not in use.
I'm going to make ties out of some 1/8-inch plywood.
I'd like to have some sort of roadbed and ballast. I was toying with just using gray paint, but would prefer some texture. Is ballast, once glued, flexible and tough enough for a portable layout? What if I leave out a foam or cork road bed and just adhere a thin coat?
Any advice?
Thanks
Chris
