Wow! Nice space. Welcome back to o-gauge! What does your track plan look like? Keep us updated with progress.
Fantastic....just so you know, there are some wonderful layout features in both the digital and print magazine....hope you consider becoming a subscriber and then sending in an article about your new layout!
I'm looking forward to more updates. By the way, how big is your new train room?
Room is 10.5’x30’. Rail head height is 52’ from floor. Not a fan of looking down at the layout. I want a perspective that either sitting or standing, you get the feeling of being there. No radi smaller than O72. Just not a fan of compression. Want guest to be able to bring their equipment and it will run anything! Staying away from a “spaghetti bowl” of track, let the scenery do the work! Plenty of switching and running. Last make track, scenery and equipment filthy!
Firemanchris, welcome to the Forum. Before you advance too far you may want to consider a backdrop or at least painting the walls a sky blue. Easier now than when you have buildings, scenery, etc.
I got that covered.

Background info on the above pics.
Enjoying the process!
A track plan is never set in stone! My original plan of a double track main, ehhh….. may not happen. Will see.
I’m trying something new for me, the backdrop is paper. My spouse came up with the idea. So let’s see how this goes. The background will look familiar to my first layout, that I posted pics years before here! Love them Berkshires/Green mountains!
Wish I could dedicate more time to it,
Chris
Great progress! Smart everything will be in easy reach! JohnA
Nice progress!

I have updates!!!
I do my best at planning and then I fall off track. No pun I tended, but it fits. So, without any to do, here’s what I did.
I had the itch and needed to run a Locomotive, so I decided to wire up the track and placed a few structures. I’m very pleased with the switching design!

Mistakes were made! 🤣🤣🤷🏻♂️
Chris, nice space and the start of a great looking layout. I like your approach. More scenic elements and less track. Looks to be basically single track. Just curious where your modeling the B&M. Which season of the northeast are you modeling. Looks to be summer with the green mountains. I model the Rutland and ended up going with fall scenery. My favorite HO layout is Jim Dufour’s B&M which can be seen on You Tube. His looks to be in the summer. Paul Dolkos another HO modeler did a nice B&M but opted for late fall early winter with barren trees.
FiremanChris, that’s going to be quite the impressive showpiece.

Looks great, Chris!!

I’m upset at myself for just seeing this now. I’m pretty close to the room size your at 11.5 x 24. Looking forward to following your process.
Is it point-to-point, or does it allow for a continuous run? If it's continuous, what are you doing regarding a removable or hinged section (or a duckunder)?
Patience is paying off! Your scenery looks great!
This is around the wall layout. Eventually there will be a peninsula with industry and small yard down the middle.
Very nice work to date Chris. I'll be following along.

I’m really enjoying watching your layout progress. Thank you for sharing.

Did about 7 hours of work and feel I haven’t much to show for it. So much to do in this 3-4 ft. section. With any more to do, here’s a few pics. I’ll show what frustrates me or needs attention in another pic. The Roadrunner is just for contrast. Alan, let me know if this post needs to be moved to photos? It may no longer fit track plans? Just let me know.
This needs attention:

Nice work @FIREMANCHRIS. Plenty of single track main for running more than one train, too, if desired.
It all looks very nice! I like the Roadrunner too!
I have updates! Not much. I have another thread going in photo albums (conn. River Sub). Since the layout construction is 60% done and planning is over, I will be posting on that thread instead. I will come back to this in the future, when I start the construction of the main switching of the layout.
regards,
Chris
I found it in the albums! Thank you.
