Occasionally while perusing eBay I will see a large case of Gargraves flex track go up for sale at a good price. I believe once or twice I saw a case go for around $7-$8 per section. However these are usually pretty rare finds. Does anyone know if Ross or Gargraves ever have sales? Or if a dealer that sells that has regular sales (eg, Black Friday)?

Life responsibilities have prevented me from enjoying the model train hobby (I seem perpetually stuck somewhere between the trackplan and benchwork design phases when I am not pulled into something else entirely), but it is on my mind and I would like to start buying things I'll need for the layout, such as track. I would like to try and do this at the best average price possible. Thanks!

God bless.

I bought all my Gargraves flex through Ross, they had the best price on case-lots.  I also bought my switches directly from Ross.

I would also support John's recommendation.

I used to get all my GarGraves track and Ross switches from Dave Minarik's Mercer Junction Train Shoppe, but, alas, Dave's store has been gone (and much missed) for several years now.

I purchased all my track directly from Gargraves and my turnouts from Ross. I am an impulse buyer and it is easier and supportive to buy directly. Both suppliers have always been helpful and a pleasure to work with in my opinion.

To which I'll add...

Two magnificent contributors to the hobby that provide...

American made products that are totally compatible from inventories that are well maintained for quick shipping, designed and manufactured from quality materials and processes by a dedicated staff of knowledgeable folks who appreciate your business and suggestions.

IOW, the kind of business I fully support without pinching pennies, to ensure their continued success and contribution to the hobby.

Lastly, I once had a customer (LHS) totally 'invested' in the HO (How Ordinary) end of the hobby who once confided during an extended dearth of track products from that scale's imported suppliers..."I'd give ANYTHING to have Gargraves and Ross be suppliers of HO track products!!!!"

Amen, brother.  Amen.

I concur with the opinions expressed and I’m anticipating an arrival of Ross switches. However, since you seem stuck, I would suggest that you evaluate the location where you will be building your bench work and measure out the area. Use painters tape to mark off the floor area. What changes do you need to make, if any, in the room; overhead lights, additional outlets, painting the walls sky blue, etc. Start checking out prices for the building materials. Since you are called upon to assist others, call upon them to help you load the lumber you will be needing. Establish dates when you won’t be available for other projects and start soliciting helpers. Your goals are important too.
