RE: foam cutting.  While reading your blog on foam prep this approach came to mind:

 

 

When slicing thick foam consider using a 6" taping knife.  Drag it along a desired line with slight pressure until it starts to slice.  You will find the sweet spot when it cuts clean.   I find multiple continuous smooth  passes as opposed to a sawing motion is best.

 

Absolutely zero dust.  Very clean face.
