Was anyone at or see the auction at Brigg's (PA) on Monday. This German tin station sold for $8,500. Does anyone know the maker? Marklin, Bing, Bub etc.?

This is Marklin; this was made for gauge 0 and gauge 1; I think this is the gauge 1 version. It is missing two standing lamps (see the wholes at the front). It is shown on page 214/5 of The Golden years of Tin Toy Trains 1850-1909.

I didn't buy it. About $8,450 out of my league. I was just shocked at the price and figured it had to be rare. Was it worth the selling price?

It was evidently worth the price to the person, or persons, who bought it! lol
If there's no markings on it... my guess would be Bing.
Bing almost always marked their products. If made by Bing, there will almost certainly be the "GB" or "BW" logo on it somewhere. There is the very rare exception, but as a general quick rule of thumb, if it's not marked, it's probably not Bing.
Didn't see the auction. What else of interest sold?

My guess only serious "wealthy" collectors pay this kinda price for an item. Money is no obstacle to them. Esthetics and general interest also plays a part I'd think.
My apologies Fred.. this IS a Marklin. I forgot to look at the door, chimney and window "shapes". Very Marklin.
And the price paid is also very Marklin

Fred
Judging this one sold for 23k I guess they got a deal. Lamps cannot be 13k hard to find!
