Hiyo peeps! I am new to the forum, looking to finally leave the floor and build a new layout. The plan is to run 4-6 trains on double track mains, plus a mountain loop of 042 and an industrial area. It is to fit around a 16'10"x9'10" area, with 4' width or less on either side, 12" width in center "bridge". I have 027 track, and 2 RW, a 1053, a CW40, a DC power pack from the 1950's, and some accessory transformers. Can anyone help me with designing this?

Well, actually, I guess are there any flaws y'all had that you recommend avoiding for newbs?
In general use the largest curves you can fit into your space.
Use good quality track switches or none at all.
Get a ZW or Z4000 Power transformer, with circuit breakers or fuses.
Use 16 gauge or larger wires for power feeds.
It is easier to do it right the first time (and cheaper) than messing up and having to start over.
Are postwar switches from the Lionel and Marx lines good then? That is what my great uncle used, I have a lot of his old stuff.
