I have no room to run a California Zephyr but since Atlas first announced the CZ eons ago, the Atlas CZ dome observation was one car I had to buy.
My plan was/is to paint and detail the interior, add some decent passengers, and put it on my desk at work. I would use the battery option to light up the car when I so desired.
Well, I finally was able to unpack my Silver Penthouse I received two weeks ago and put it on the track. The car really looks nice and the slowly blinking red light is pretty cool. When I turned out the lights and saw the rear of the car from about 10 feet away, it really looked massive like O should.
My only complaint (aside from the standard one of those Atlas couplers) is the two white LEDs shining directly up into the dome. Ugh! They will need a diffuser cover of some kind (or a straight disconnection) since the high floor which intersects the seats will need some camouflaging and those LEDs do not help. Other than that it's a nice car and I will work at putting it in revenue service on my desk on the track to nowhere...
