I have a simple single oval track on a 9x5 platform The oval ends use 027 54" curved track. I want to redo the track with fastrak However fastrak only comes in 48 & 60" radius. 60" only will put the track on the edge of the platform and 48" is too small for some of my trains. I want to know if its possible to start the curve with 60" then 48" following to ease into the curve giving me the best of both and still fit on the platform

048 is still 048 and may give some of your 054 equipment problems. The easement will help but its impossible to tell what cars or engines will be the one to fail...invariably it will be your favorite runner.
You could buy some transitional pieces, use Fastrack on the straights, and then keep the 54" curves. Gotta ask, why do you want to switch?
O27 "O54" track is 54" to the edge of the ties IIRC. Fastrack "O48" track is 48" center-rail to center-rail, thus about 54" to the edge of the ties. Do some measuring. You may find the Fastrack will work.
The O48 geometry is problematic in that they are 30 degree sections, and O60 sections are 22.5 degrees.
These are some options for fastrack layout using O-48 and O-60 and will fit on a 5x9 platform. These will not answer your question about whether your trains will run on O-48. Hope this helps some.

That's a big help Thank you
You are welcome. One note: these do not show the fastrack roadbed. Please let me know if you want to see those and I can add it and repost
