Bill, I consider crawling under my layout to be my model railroad yoga, so I relate to what you say about it being a workout at the gym. I periodically need to do this to reach a derailment on the other side of my layout, change an accessory, add lamp posts, etc.

If I were to decide to keep the electrical mounted on top of the layout, my first thought is to  hide it under the scenery, such as covering it with lichen. For instance, I've used lichen to hide the wires for 022 switches. Arnold
