HI,

Finally have the new train space ready to go.  Kinda stuck though and hoping for help.  Hopefully I have attached a photo of the space, dimensioned sketch and an idea I like.  The layout will be S Gauge.  I have a stack of S Helper track with a quantity of 24" and 20" R curves and plenty of straights and a dozen switches. I really need to iron out the basic mainline design in order to start the benchwork.  I also have plenty of AF switches I can modify in order to get tighter spacing between tracks.

Thanks

TIm

Are you looking for help with a design? Or are you just arranging track?

If you're arranging the track, what kind of a track do you want? A yard? A main line kind of run? Will there be any kind of an interchange? Will this be on one level? Too many unanswered questions here to give you a suggestion?

If you're looking for design help, you may want to consider the 5 W's. Who is my railroad which is the railroads name. Where is the railroad? What is the railroad going to be doing? What is the railroads purpose? When did this railroad exist or does it still exist? What portion of it are you going to be modeling?

Those are just some of the basic questions it would be very helpful to know.

HI,

Thanks for the advice John.

I had attached a track plan I liked that answers most of your questions - dual main line, two levels, small yard and a few spurs.  But, one side needs to be shortened (lose the roundhouse) and the other perhaps turned 30-degress for the last three feet in order to fit my space.  I won't have much room for scenery.  OR maybe in the end an around the room with a walk-through of some sort is better.

The main goal is to be able to have a couple of trains running at once, in and out of sight, and perhaps some light switching.

I really need help with the main elements in order to get my benchwork sized.

Thanks

Tim
