Tom, I saw this some time ago, but without a free trial I wasn’t willing to spend even $2 to try it since I already have RR-Track, AnyRail and SCARM. It says it has Atlas O 2-rail, Lionel O, Lionel O-27 and MTH ScaleTrax libraries, but those just weren’t enough for my needs. However, for someone without a PC who just wants basic capabilities, it might be good enough.

Dave, none of the programs you have appear to offer iPad access. I would guess it is a combination of lack of demand coupled with insufficient revenue to support the programming necessary for iPad access. Even the professional CAD design programs now offer iPad access to files. Were I in your position I would have no interest in TrainDesign. Many other may were it more widely known.

Interesting. The iPad accesses TRAX using its browser, not an app. In my opinion that is the better approach.

There's a lot of design software moving to cloud based solutions. Autocad has a web version. Fusion 360 is cloud based. It's easier to design for (create one version that everyone can use) and also to control access and features (ie., you don't pay the fee, you can't access the program).

Did you notice this?

Dave, I did not see that.

My layout was designed using Autocad 3D. There are certainly web versions of Autocad as well as software residing on client servers. The nice thing about using Autocad Is every type of item can be assigned its own layer, such as the structure, the track underlayment, the track, bridges and tunnels, the scenery, electric power, controls, accessories. Clearances can be established and clash detection run to verify there will be no interferences. The structure layer can be sent to a CNC machine to generate all the pieces of the layout structure.
