Does anyone know if a scale model was made of this coal tower? Thanks, it is down the street from my house and I would like to incorporate it in my layout...Thanks

No picture.
Ok, I see the picture. Not familiar with that one but Lionel made a rounded one that is similar.
This is on the old MICHIGAN CENTRAL right of way in MICHIGAN CITY, IN. I was told there was a blue print for this. Anyone know about this?
The Suncoast one is somewhat simialr. Russ
Looks like a relatively simple scratchbuild project you might consider if you can get the dimensions.

Would the NYC Historical Society have something?
Lots of pictures on the web:

(Our computer didn't allow the "insert" icon, then it was spooling for a while, you may have to copy and paste.)
Plus a nice Google Maps view.
Tried that, nothing was available. They told me NYC used whatever when it came to coal towers......
rattler, I have it drawn out on some graph paper but would like the exact measurements. I thought about making it out of foam board and cover it with some kind of spackle to get the cement finish.
Going to take some measurements this weekend. I can park off the road to the north of the structure. I would imagine that it is at least 70-80 feet tall. I will keep you posted..
Looks to be about twice the height of the passenger cars.

Maybe whatever? There were plans to build it, guess they just don't have them.
A few good images from the road side and a measurement of that sides base will get a great start with calipers or software. Distance from base and viewing angle to the top should get you height.
If all the side are planes, angled or not, and not round like the Lionel/Walthers tower,
it should not be hard to build.
Steam Locomotive Coaling Stations by Thomas W Dixon has many photos of coaling stations plus 2 pages of detailed drawings of Fairbanks Morse towers of all sizes.
Since I have CAD software I can reproduce any one of these drawings. Contact Pro Hobby using email.
This book is published by TLC Publishing.
Attached is scratchbuilt coaling tower I am building.

Here is a simple sketch of a Fairbanks Morse type SR121 500 ton coaling tower similar to a drawing in the Thomas W. Dixon book. It serves two tracks as shown. Overall height is 91 feet. Overall width is 35 feet.

Thanks pro hobby, it gives me an idea of height etc. It is very similar to the one in the picture. Thanks to everyone so far that has offered suggestions and help, it is greatly appreciated.
pro hobby would that be 35' square? I think so but want to make sure.
