I am helping a friend try and build one of these, I have that plans that CTT put out several years ago. They do not discuss the area that needs to be cut out from the section that lifts up where the mountain is. Does anyone that has built this layout have some rough measurements on how this needs to be cut out?

Also how far is it from the back edge to where the hinge is located?

Thanks in advance!

Mike

Wouldn't it be better to flip the direction of travel for the train? So that it shoots down the stupidly steep ramp and then has a more gradual incline?

I’m sure they ran all the permutations but their primary goal was to show the gripping affect of magnetraction. Once the transformer is set up you shut it off with a  SPST switch that de-energizes one section. This is done so you don’t have to “ re-tune” the throttle position each time.
