What would you use for distance between street lamps on sidewalks in front of buildings...how many inches apart and how close to roadway/street?

I have a 26 foot long street going through the middle of my 15 by 11 L-shaped layout. There are 12 No. 64 lamp posts +/- 24 inches apart, roughly 100 scale feet. A bit close, perhaps, but they surely look good. They stand at the edge of the Masonite Street.
Depends on the density of people and traffic. There are more street lamps in the city than in the country. Use the number of lamps that looks good to you.
