DOES THIS REALLY WORK???

Older TIUs yes it does help if you don't already have a lighted lock-on. Newer TIUs such as the REV L, not so much.

I don't use a TIU with my DCS Remote Commander system.

I have the infra red module that you point the hand-held remote at, to get the functions of the loco to work.

Will this enhance the ability of the infra red module?

I don't know if it would make a difference with a Remote Commander. I use one too, but my layout is so small that I don't have any signal problems.

If these somehow enhance signals, then get these along with appropriate size lamps, and guessing they have to be incandescent, not LEDs:

And build a bunch of them.

Thanks Bob (RSJB18)...that's exactly what I was looking for. Apparently it was to help the early DCS system by adding a "load" to the circuit.

I don't think it will be of any use to me and my DCS Remote Commander system. I'll let it slide!!!

These incandescent lamps add a small amount of inductance to the DCS signal path. That tends to balance out the overly capacitive nature of the network, allowing the signals to propagate better. They’re similar to the “Magic Lamps” we used to sell at OGR. Early versions of DCS benefitted from this and signal propagation was improved.

I don’t think the current version of DCS needs this.
