I am about to make a digital metering panel for my layout.  I've found some blue display rectangular digital meters on eBay for about $10 each for measuring voltage and current. I want to mount them in a plastic panel that is identified as Norplex plastic, about the same composition and thickness of a printed circuit board.  To make the rectangular hole, I've thought about using my (rotary) Dremel tool but I don't know what cutting attachment to buy or use for this purpose.  Some help on this?

Most plastics don't take well to high speed cutting, they melt rather than cut.  I'd be thinking along the lines of a fine tooth keyhole saw.  Drill out a starter hole and carefully cut it with a hand saw.

Dremel does have a jigsaw attachment, but I don't know if you can dial it down slow enough not to melt the plastic.

I have a Dremel 4000 and a battery powered Dremel 8220 that I've used it with, but only on wood to date.

Yes, the 10 Amp meter was item # 171358955425 sold by elite.element for $10, and a 5 amp version item # 371789757183 sold by georgio11115.  I confirmed before buying that these current meters did not require external thermocouples. I have tested them and they work well but I can't vouch for calibration accuracy.  Search "digital blue LCD" to find a variety of the products offered.
