Looking for someone that has the key to putting an electrocoupler on the Lionel 6-18018 Southern Mikado.  The mount is non-standard for modern couplers, and I haven't found anything that fits.  If there was a replacement truck that matched the existing truck, that would be another option.

As you probably know, these were made by Samhongsa back in 1992 (wow, it's been 30 years now), coordinated by Mike Wolfe for Lionel, so it's not surprising it's something different from the norm. (They also did a similar Frisco version and at least one other line.) I suppose there are quite a number of parts on these engines that would be difficult to find parts for, unless some junker Samhongsa steamers turn up.

That locomotive has a unique set of 4 wheel trucks….the coupler John needs is similar in construction as the one that’s packaged in the TMCC Commodore Vanderbilts, etc. The truck’s coupler arm uses a one way push clip, not the conventional T-bar & e clip type found on everything more modern……

John, if you have no luck, I have these handy little dudes that can be adapted to just about any truck that will allow the use of T-bar type couplers, or if you want to send the tender to me for a complete truck upgrade, that’ll be fine too,….trying to find that older style coupler is like trying to find a needle in a haystack of needles,…

John, will either of these work?  I just bought parts from a closing service station and these are Lionel.

Thanks, I have both of those styles, but they don't work on this oddball tender truck.

The Atlas articulated coupler can be dis-assembled, and used with some grief.  May be one of the shortest electro-couplers. Remove, the two screw, box piece, that connects to the truck.  I used one of these on an older Weaver 0-8-0 tender.   Also on a Rich Yoder GE 44 tonner.

Actually, it can't be really short due to the location of the mount.  I really need at least a 1.8" coupler, the one that's on there now is 2" long.

It may come to that Pat.  I was hoping to find a "drop-in", but hopes are fading.
