I have Fastrack with 031 curves, My layout has two loops controlled by remote switches. I have ordered 6-81253 and 6-81254 switches which are 031 switches. However, no one can tell me when Lionel will manufacture these, So my question I have 5 o31 curves at the end of each has 3 10 inch straights. I want these to mate to a switch.

In looking at the specs of a O36 switch 6-12045 6-12046 the switch is a 33.75 degree curve and has a short 11.25 degree section to make a total of 45 degrees at the switch. Both the o31 and o36 switches have these same degrees.

So my question is can I substitute an O36 in place of a O31 switch? I have attached what I am attempting to do.

Try this-it's about 25" wide and 65" long. There is a funky joint due to the angles off of the thru straight, but it's looks close enough to fit. Used an 048 7.5° instead of the 036 11.25°. You can cut 10" and make the tracks instead of using all of the 1.75" straights.

Oh, yeah, the Lionel shipping schedule still has Nov'14 for the 031 switches. Thta's means a long wait.
