I am looking into making two loops like this, I have a 036 switch and 5 x 036 curves, what other lengths would I need to complete one loop?

Does the space at the top need a 1 3/8" or 1 3/4" section to fit?

No, it's less than an inch. I don't put anything in there - just snap it together. Video here(NYC SSS traversing reversing loops - slightly elongated in both directions with regular 10" sections to fit the tables - no tiny fitters, just the one 5" half section as per above diagram):
Thanks for posting Rob. Might be more practical to do this with my Christmas layout.
Yes, there's a little bit more flexibility than most folks realize. I adjusted the tolerance in SCARM to account for this, it is just a hair outside that setting.
I remember this video when it was first posted and it clearly shows both techniques, the reversing loops and the dogbone.
Here is another.

Here's an RR-Track layout of my current Christmas layout. All FASTRACK with 036 curves and switches. I would give more detail, but I don't have the time now.

Very nice. I am looking to use two 4x8 sheets of plywwod in an L shape with reversing loops at each end. Any recommendations?
L Shape using 2 4x8's
grid is 12 inches by 12 inches
With the Front switches set to "Thru", the Back switches are reversing

Thank you. A little jump start goes a long way.
