i have askes this question on the 3 rail forum now i will try track plans and layouts since this is a track problem.

i have a 10'x20' layout. it is absolutely flat and level. my problem is the fastrack sections don't line up. the rails are at different heights causing the engine to "bump and waddle" down the track. the track is secured with screws. i have bought extra sections trying to find good ones, but that gets expensive.

is there a way to level the metal rail in the plastic bedding. i would appreciate any advice. i an sure i an not the only one with this problem. thank you.

I ran into this issue with the last batch of fast track O-60 curves I bought.

The rails were not set all the way into the road bed. I know this may sound strange, but after taking a short section of 1x4, I pressed down on the rails carefully and heard & felt the rails snap into place. No more odd high spots in the rails. My equipment ran smoothly. Also had a few straight pieces that had one rail not set all the way at the joining end. Fixed it the same way.

I hope this helps.

I don't think he is talking about the roadbed. I have seen this without the track being screwed down. The roadbed joins up perfectly, but sometimes one rail won't at the joint. There will be a lip where the rails join. In other words, one rail is a hair higher than the joining rail. I haven't had any opertional issues with this, but you can hear the trains bump over the rail joint. My fix is to unbend the tabs at the joint on the higher rail, push it down as far as I can, then rebend the tabs tightly. Usually fixes the problem.

I have the same problem with one of my curved RealTrax. It doesn't hurt operation, but the bump and noise are there. I chalk it up to mass production and haven't decided how I'll tackle it if I decide to stay with RealTrax. I can remember having any number of tracks out of alignment back in the day, so this is nothing new to me. Given the number of track I've got compared to the number I had then, I'm way ahead of the game today, though track is certainly much more expensive now. I think everyone who has ever laid a track has done some tweaking and I'm actually surprised Fast track and RealTrax fit as well as they do.

RJ,

I do believe I may have answered you other post on this a while back.

It does seem that the last run or so of FasTrack did have some problems in the manner you are talking about, I bought up a bunch of the older FasTrack at the tain shows to make sure I got the older perfect FasTrack rather than investing in the newer track.   Look the FasTrack over at the train shows and purchase the older

track, no mismatch and less cost for the track.
