If your using O72 switches how close can you make the tracks? I'm thinking of a 6 track yard with a single track entrance and exit. How much space would this take up?

6" center rail to center rail. The ladder lead in will take approximately 5 to six feet in length with a width of about 4 feet for six tracks.
I would highly recommend using Ross #4 switches and gargraves track in your yard area. You can have much tighter track spacing. I have a 4 track yard that is less then 1 foot wide.

I think you are right, I will go with the Ross #4 switches. I'll put the fastrack up for sale, I had a bunch of it so I was thinking maybe I could reuse it.

I used Fastrack on my mainline, but went to Ross/Gargraves in the yard and a few other areas where I wanted tighter switches and more realistic track spacings.
