Well, after many years of putting it off I have finally decided to start my layout. It's an odd situation because I'm not building it at my house, I'm building it at my parents house about 15 minutes away. I really have no space in my current house with a growing family. However, my parents have offered up a spare room that they no longer use. Here's the catch, the room is roughly 14' x 11'. There is a closet that sticks out on one wall which means my useable layout space is about 5' x 12'. I have some Premier locomotives which require an O-54 curve. I realize that a 5' x 12' O-54 layout is not ideal, but I've got to work within the space I have. I am thinking about an O-54 outer loop and an O-42 inner loop. I am going to keep the scenery to a minimum. Probably just a grass mat and some MTH buldings. Does anyone think that I'm crazy for trying to run scale sized locomotives on a 5' x 12' layout? I will try to keep you guys up to date on my progress.
