Looks great!
Good job!
I had one of those talking train stations when I was a kid; wish I had kept it. Does yours still work? Did you have to rebuild the paper speaker cone? How did you make your rock wall?
Keep us posted!
Thank you all for your kind words.
Bill-The rock walls are basalt rock foil from scenic express. You can shape them anyway you want and hot glue them down.
On the Noma station, several years ago joseph Mania restorations was offering a quality replacement for the sound mechanism and I replaced the guts with it and it works just as good as new. I still have the original guts, the cone is in good shape but the wiring was brittle and broke off and I was using vcr belts and that worked for several years until the wiring gave way. I even kept the little records that came with it. Here is the link to jlmtrains and they even have the original train announcements that came with the station!!!! Ah nostalgia!!!!!
Mine was the Train No. 28 Pennsylvania Broadway Limited. Nice to hear it again. Thanks for the link!
Real nice work. Well done. I like how it's not overly crowded and still has some room for growth (more buildings & scenery).
Looks nice. Please post more pics when the scenery is started.
steelhead76, thanks the frame is basically a Joola ping pong table with homasote on top. The second tier is 1/2 inch plywood and pink foam board.
Hope that helps you
If you are interested in a NOMA announcement for your station, I have been providing
them (digital sound units) for 3 years now. Check out youtube for videos. Do a search using "NOMA Station" or contact me at johnretired@yahoo.com and I'll provide you with more information. Thanks, John TCA #77-11520.
John, thank you for the offer, but I had it retro fitted a number of years ago.
