Am I in the correct location to ask questions about basic train table construction? Is there a book out there that might be considered as a "holy Grail" of L-girder construction? Also, is there a computer program that is best for O gauge?

Hi, and welcome to the Forum
I think that one of the best books on benchwork construction is the classic by Linn Wescott:
I took the easy route, and used a commercial benchwork company, but L-Girder benchwork is the way to go for flexibility, rounded corners, terrain variability and an overall more realistic design and look.
Others may be able to suggest a good computer program. Good luck!

How to Build Model Railroad Benchwork by Linn Westtcott is the most referenced source. It is paperback and well illustrated.

There are two programs mentioned most on the Forum.
1. RR-track = This package is the most commonly used software Forum members.
2. SCARM - It's freeware. People have begun using it this past year and there have been several posts about it.
