Has anyone used SCRAM or TRAX? I see they are both free software programs and from what I read on the TRAX page it states at the bottom that the layouts are from the owner of the SCRAM project. So my question is, are these programs legit and good, are there other free layout programs or am I just better off purchasing RR Tracks software? FYI I am designing a layout in Super O.

Thanks

Vince

First, let me thank you for introducing me to TRAX.  I will have to check it out.

Second, SCARM (note spelling) is used by several regular posters here, and, like most software, has its pluses and minuses.  On the whole, very good product, but only for PCs, not Macs.  I don't use Apple products, but I believe there is at least one program that will work on those.

Search this forum for other threads mentioning track plan software to find the pluses and minuses of most available track planning software.

I run SCARM on my Mac, I do so with PlayOnMac.  You won't be able to do the 3D view of your layout, but all other layout planning features do work.  There is another Mac layout planning software package, but it is so out of date I do not recommend it anymore, which is a pity as it was one of the best I've ever used.  It had a limited track count trial, but the fee to buy was low.

I am new to this Forum and new to this software.   I tried to download some of the layouts on the SCARM website (Lionel O Gauge) but all that I looked at show "n/a" for the file.  I tried to replicate one of the layouts but can't find a list of the symbol numbers e.g 6110, 6120, etc. and the dimensions for these track pieces.  I would like to use Postwar tubular track with O22 switches.

Where can I find a list of the track symbols and do they represent Postwar tubular track?  Where can I find layout files that I can download to use as is or to modify?
