since i barely have any atlas track because of availability issues, im gonna go with gargraves, which actually is seeming to be a better and cheaper option. i need to know tho how available is gargraves? and can the phantom tracks be used outdoors?

Gargraves (and Ross) are made in the good ol' U.S. of A.. Never experienced a track availability in all my years. Some of the ancillary products/accessories they sell from other manufacturers may have occasional availability issues.
If you will be running the track outdoors, I'd suggest sticking with their plastic ties, stainless steel rail for weather resistance.
Gargraves are great 'down home' folks. If you have ANY questions about what's best for your situation, give 'em a call.
Better yet, if you're attending the York Meet in April, they'll be in the Orange Hall....as will Ross (totally compatible with GG.)
FWIW, always....

SHRIKER 1, I agree with DKDKRD. Although Atlas is nice looking track it is on the expensive side and you are limited to radius-es and switch turnouts plus supply. With Gar Graves you have a lot more preformed curves to pick from if you do not want to bend your own curves. And with the money you save I would purchase Ross switches. You would have to run Gar Graves stainless steel track outside. Also I buy Gar Graves from Just Trains of Delaware, they are a sponsor. Myself I have been happy with the Gar graves Ross combination and I have been using the track since 1967......Paul
SHRIKER 1: Here is a very good article on using Gargraves track outside. The person writing it is in Tucson where the heat will warp plastic ties on Gargraves and the insects love the wood ties on Gargraves. So, some modifications need to be done to the track in hot climates.

The Atlas ties are UV protected and Atlas curves are available in 10 different radii. Availability of Atlas track has improved in recent months.
Whichever track system you use is up to you! Good luck and send us pictures as you build your railroad!

Here's a link to Utah dealers.

Most of the big online dealers carry it, or you can order direct from Gargraves.
