My layout will operate conventionally for now, so I was looking at uncoupler tracks.  I see some Gargraves ones for sale, are these effective, or does their effectiveness depend more on my rolling stock’s design ?   I did note in Jim Barrett’s book about making your own uncoupler tracks, but I really don’t need more projects at this time.

Thks,

Rich

I am a Gar Graves advocate. Their products are superb but sometimes expensive. I needed 5 uncoupling tracks for our new layout expansion. Our track is Gar Graves. I found on Ebay, there are many Lionel, MPC era uncoupling tracks available used. The are O-27 rail height that matches Gar Graves track rail height perfectly. Gar Graves also sells O-27 to Gar Graves pins to join tracks. The details on the track are LIONEL MPC ERA O27 UNCOUPLING TRACK 6-65149. They can easily cut in half to minimize the length of the Lionel track. They are also quite easy to wire. They can be had for a small fraction of the price of their competitors' products.
